Cyprus

The divide Island of Cyprus is a slice of Greece and Turkey all on one island. The Green Zone divides the two territories. Few Countries in the world recognize Turkey’s claim to the island. Only Korea and Cyprus are divided countries now that Germany is reunified. Some could argue that Jerusalem is divided city now that Palestine and Israel both claim it as their capital.

The largest cities are Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta, Paphos and Kyrenia tales about all of them are on this blog – they all have Turkish names too but since these posts are written about the Greek part of the island the names are Greek.

Nicosia is on the Turkish part of the island.

The terrain is dry, arid rocky desert with water surrounding all the inhabited areas.
