November Packing List for Vietnam

Everyone is always looking for Packing Hints. Here are my tips and tricks for packing.

Try My November Packing List for Vietnam and Asia

  • 1 – yoga skirt long enough to cover my knees
  • 3 – tank tops with high neckline to protect chest from the sun
  • 2 – long sleeve light with gauze cotton or linen shirts
  • leggings cotton
  • long Bermuda 100% cotton  shorts
  • hooded sweatshirt (dark color it will get used a lot) use it in your hotel room only
  • rain jacket (plan to buy a poncho there should cost about a dollar.
  • swimsuit
  • cover up – white dress – tese can be layered and used together in case I get sunburned
  • white wrap for the beach/ and doubles as a dress
  • pair walking shoes by Ecco – my go to shoes for vacation
  • sandals
  • sport bras
  • regular bra
  • pairs of socks that don’t show (3)
  • linen long sleeve beach shirts (3) (used it for the sun cover up to protect my arms and to go into sacred places)
  • hair clips and two pony tail hair bands kept on the shaft of my hairbrush
  • hairbrush
  • flat iron –  automatic voltage international
  • The last item I pack is my sleeping shorts and shirt. If it’s bedtime, I want to find my gear without digging through my bag
  • a baseball hat
  • packable beach hat
  • scarf that will cover my shoulders and head
  • Converter and chargers for all electronics

Other Stuff

  • Must be able to cover your knees, head, arms shoulders to enter Christian and shrines
  • One red umbrella – so I can find it
  • Sunscreen 30+
  • Face sunscreen 70+
  • Bug repellant  – please consult your pharmacy on this.
  • TSA standard liquid bag for shampoo, conditioner, leave in condition and anti- frizz sprays, all 3 oz. or under

To do before, I go

  • Make sure all you charge your device batteries.
  • Notify Visa or Master Card that you are leaving the country with dates of travel and locations.
  • Bring cash. Larger Bills get a better exchange rate. (50 and 100 dollar bills – $1.00’s are for bartering)
  • Vietnam is not a place that credit cards are widely accepted.
  • Make sure you Bank has authorized your ATM card(s) for use in your country with dates of travel
  • Get all medicines
  • US currency, Cash
  • 3 Extra photos of me ( I carry three back passport pictures of me from Costco in case my passport gets lost and my visa)
  • World Health card with all up-to-date shots on it

What I wear on the airplane

  • Running shoes and socks
  • Leggings or yoga pants
  • Heavy Costco Sweatshirt with hood
  • Tank top and tea shirt (layer)

What’s in my carry on

My down vest is stuffed in carrying case because it’s super small. I keep it there, in case I want to layer on the plane if I I get cold

**Charger for phone – don’t forget the charger

  • Ear plugs – in case the person next to you snores
  • Ipod – happy calming music
  • Adapter plugs in this case C, D and Asian model (Europe, UK, and Asia)
  • Tiny laptop with the power cord
  • Small notepad with zipper pocket on it to keep relevant receipts
  • 3 – Small plastic sandwich bag to store my receipts, one for shells or treasures I find, one extra
  • Small empty glass case in case I buy something small and breakable  – like jewelry, find shells or delicate treasures
  • All camera gear – I never roll my camera gear – I carry it like a baby
  • Blue rubber surgical glove – it can act as an ice bag, won’t leak, and it’s teeny tiny
  • KT tape – in case I hurt my ankle – it’s tiny, and it’s as good a necessary as duck tape
  • Cell phone charger
  • Two cell phones – with international calling plan I use T-Mobile
  • 1 – pack up the instruction for how to close the account, if you lose your mobile phone, and a new sim needs to be activated
  • 2 – extra sim cards from my carrier. I can turn the new sim card on

In one pocket on the inside of my carry on

  • My tickets (all of them and receipts to hotels)
  • Passport
  • Visa
  • Extra undies
  • Camera cloth in case something spills on my camera
  • Medicines
  • Kindle
  • Personal items: face cream, tooth brush tooth paste
